DJ (Mad) Ed
Started DJ'ing in the mid eighties in studenttown Zwolle, inspired bij early hiphop, funk & (punk)rock.
Moved to Amsterdam in 1990, was hired immediately at the Melkweg to open for shows & as a resident for the weekly saturday clubnight Dance Arena in early 1993, spinning a mix of happening tunes of the time with emphasis on hiphop & breaks.
His own monthly clubnight in Club Arena from 1993 til 1995 was sold out every night & as a gimmick he changed his DJ name every month till everybody stuck with "Mad Ed"...
From 1996 Ed started working full time for the Melkweg & startd focusing totally on breaks with his own night called Big Beat Boom , where he spinned as a resident with the likes of Derrick Carter, Mekon, Midfield General, Tipper & Dub Pistols.
On the Advanced Nights in 2002 & 2003 he played with DJ's like Plump DJ's, Drumattic Twins & Tayo.
Also he spinned up to this year 9 years in a row at the breaks tent at the Dance Valley Festival with people like Adam Freeland, Freq Nasty, Lee Coombs & Rennie
Pilgrem.
On mayor dutch festivals such as Pinkpop & Lowlands Ed opened up for Fat Boy Slim, The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers & Audio Bullys during the last few years, and he still residents saturdaynights at the Melkweg's Dance Arena club.
2004 was Eds best year yet with gigs in Mexico, Hungary & supporting The Prodigy in a sold-out Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam. In 2005 he opened up once more for the Prodigy and also for Plump PJs and Audio Bullys.
