About Me
Kenneth Bager became a legendary trendsetter and DJ in the late 1980´s in Copenhagen Denmark. He formed the COMA parties, acid house parties which pulled enormous crowds. He became a local living legend! From 1990 and onwards he became famous for his own band “Dr. Baker , who had his first pan European hit “KAOSâ€. As an A&R person he signed The KLF, The Shamen , Moby and Dance To Trance to his Scandinavian Coma label and had a big rundown of chart success. Kenneth is also a club promoter responsible for bringing new acts or DJ’s to Denmark for the first time: Paul Oakenfold, Norman Jay, Gotan Project; Sven Vath, Metro Area, Bob Jones, Coldcut, The Orb, etcThe concept of Music For Dreams goes back to 1994 when Kenneth Bager released a compilation which he named “Music For Dreamsâ€. Artists such as Peter Gabriel, Michael Nyman, Brian Eno, Coldcut and Stina Nordenstam amongst others were the heartbeat of this exciting release. This double CD is very rare today. During the period from 1995 to 1997 Kenneth released the three compilations “Ambient Ibiza vol.1, 2 & 3†This exact atmosphere and vibe which Kenneth Bager was trying to capture with these compilations would take him another 5 years to define and less did he know at that time that it would end up being the unique name for his record label MUSIC FOR DREAMS.In 2001 the very first Music For Dreams release came out. A compilation accompanied by a nicely designed book and 27 tracks spread out on two CD’s. The book documents the DJ story of Kenneth Bager with full colour photos and every artist gave a description of how they made the tracks. Music wise the compilation was a cut above everything else released at the time. Contributing artists included Metro Area, Radiohead, Mos Def, Gotan Project, Silent Poets, Moby, Royskopp and St. Germain. They all presented what Music For Dreams was all about and many of the tracks now stands out as classics. The Music for Dreams Book compiled by Kenneth Bager was featured in upfront fashion magazines like Dazed and Confused, The Faze, Muzik and Vogue. Not bad for a ‘new born baby’…Kenneth Bager now runs his Music For Dreams, DJ’s and works for Denmark’s P3 (like BBC One) where his radio show is more than eclectic blending genres as diverse as World, Electronica, Techno, Klezmer, Dub, House, Classical, Soul, Film Scores, obscurities, rarities and other ditties. Music For Dreams’ records has sold small amounts in each country, but substantial amounts as a total world wide. The music is being synchronized for many films and commercials, especially in the US. On Music For Dreams he’s focused on creating new artists and Music For Dreams is a label hard to categorize, a label without prejudices or musical boundaries. For Kenneth there is only existing “good or bad musicâ€.
