Hoe Slinger

About Me

Originally formed in January 2004 to open up for our favorite band, The Meat Purveyors. We started out as an "all-girl" band with a slogan that read, "All balls. No cock about it." However, conflicting schedules and the pregnancy of our bass player caused us to introduce a little meat into our musical diet in the form of two "Man Hoes." We've performed mainly on the Alaska bluegrass circuit, fitting in all the festivals (and fun!) we possibly can. Though it is difficult for a Hoe to find gainful employment in the 49th state, we manage to irritate as many bartenders as we can along the Parks Highway with our rough and rowdy shows and smartass humor.

Band Members:

Myspace Contact Tables Hoe ..1: Beth Chrisman on fiddle, guitar, cleavage and vocals. Hoe ..2: Jessica Knott on guitar, vocals, dirty jokes and generally unacceptable material. Man Hoe 1/2: Workshare Program: Two fine men share this position! Tom Benton, making his "mad face" on the standup bass. Chris Darrell, finally freed from the rigors of playing Rockabilly bass with Wayne Hancock, he now rocks our world!Man Hoe 3: Silas Lowe chucking the hell out of that little mandolin.Man Hoe 4: Christian Ward, this banjo boy really knows how to 'gets his plucking on!!'Man Hoe 5: When we're really lucky, the great Adam Sultan also joins us on lead guitar. Check out some of his solo shows! You won't be disappointed! He really 'puts out!'Missy BethJessi Jane
Influences: The Meat Purveyors, Freakwater, Dolly Parton, Split Lip Rayfield, Rex Hobart and the Misery Boys, Emmylou Harris, Gillian Welch, Lucinda Williams, Wanda Jackson, Hank III, Supersuckers, Carl Hoffman and the Fairbanks Bluegrass Boys, Robbie Fulks and pretty much anyone else on the Bloodshot Records label... so many more our hands would cramp to type their names!
Sounds Like: Sounds like the Farmer's daughter singing sweetly in a field right before she gets mowed down by a combine. It's been said that we put the "Lo" in "Lonesome." It's also been said that we put the "Cunt" in "Country" and the "Be" in "Beaver"... which, if you're really badly behaved you can sometimes touch at our shows.
Record Label: True musicians can't afford to make a record!
