About Me

Despite the opinion that young women don't get breast cancer, the reality is that they can and they do. Snapgirl strives to inspire new dialogue about breast cancer that goes beyond awareness and early detection, insisting more be done for prevention. Snapgirl encourages young women to know their bodies, educate themselves on breast cancer risk factors and activate social change toward prevention.Currently, the vast majority of funding and attention is going toward the screening, diagnosis, and treatment of breast cancer. While these areas are very important, we now need to advocate for a shift in attention and increased funding toward the discovery of what causes breast cancer in the first place. There is a compelling body of scientific evidence that links exposure to synthetic chemicals to an increased risk of breast cancer. These chemicals can be found in our air, water, soil, food, homes, cleaning supplies and other consumer products that we use every day. In order to really make an impact in the discovery of breast cancer causation, it is imperative that more research be conducted focusing on this angle.
