About Me

Poppy Day were formed in 1985.After a number of gigs including the Live aid charity gig held at the champion (Salford) the 3 founder members, Yuseph Din, Paul Wallworth and Tony McVay were soon joined by Andy Fenton and Kevin Fenton. Poppy Day made 2 demo tapes at Twilight Studios (Pretty Girl, Religion, Dream Cycle and Pride and Passion) but Playing live was the bands main focus. Gigs included the Boardwalk, Pierrots, Hull University, the Venue and a short spell playing in Glossop, the Trap and the Surry Arms. the lads continued giggin' around the north west area and finally split in about 1988. NOW THEIR BACK! The recent announcement of the massive Salford Music Gig at the Willows Salford, has rekindled the passion that Poppy Day had almost 20 years ago. The Band start rehearsals at the end of October.

Influences:
Sounds Like: Thick, Syrup like rock with a nice r'n'b feel. The Male Lead Vocal is Rich and Atmospheric, soaring Powerfully over what appears to be a mixture of Acoustic and Electric Guitars, I may be wrong, no matter. The whole thing has a Doomy, Haunting effect which goes some way towards crafting an individual sound. - Mick Middles (Manchester Evening News)
