NYC based Singer/Songwriter originally from Boston....moved to NY 18 years ago...currently working on her 3rd CD of original music titled "LOVE AND CHAOS"
Her second CD "THAT WHICH IS REAL" had 3 songs nominated for MAC "song of the year" in recent yrs and "KINDNESS MAKES ME CRY" won the MAC SONG OF THE YEAR in 2004.
She also won the first "Dottie Berman Songwriter Award" in 2007. And the song "If i was a Boy" was awarded Best Song of the last 5 years by Cabarethotline in 2006.
The entire album recently was awarded 'BEST LYRICS AND COMPOSTION 2007"...from FAMSPA publication of WORLD'S WHO'S WHO IN JAZZ,CABARET,MUSIC & ENTERTAINMENT ...she is also featured in FAMSPA "Showbiz Pioneers Best Singers and Enteratiners" book,and "Entertainment Greats from 1800's to Present" ..as well as Biographies and Profiles of the first decade "People Who Mattered" encyclopedia of the 21st century.
The first album "SO Many Pieces Of Me" has 4 songs featured in the Indie film "In Passing" written and directed by Kate Fitzgerald and available @ OLIVEFILMS.com
Also and actress and commedienne...Maria can be seen as "Sarah the Belly Dancer"...in Al Pacino's "Chinese Coffee"...and as the loud mouth "Fold it like a Man" girl in the Dominos Brooklyn style Pizza commercials.
Maria and best friend Susan Campanaro AKA Lavania Draper are currently working on their 3rd two-woman comedy show..."THE B IS BACK ON LINE" look for it this summer @ the Duplex Cabaret Theater NYC.
Maria is as a Singer works every Monday, Friday & Saturday nights from 9pm till 4am in the Duplex Piano Bar (located @ 61 Christopher St NYC).
