Just discovered this gem of an album which was recorded back in 1994! Finbar O'Hanlon is a multitalented and multitracking pyrotechnic guitarist who works as a three-piece fronting Finbar with support from drummer Simon Bailey and bassist Andy Artwill. However, the music on this album stretches so much further than simply being a power rock trio. This is in the best tradition of prog rock, from the crunching opener "Solomon's Vision" which allows you to savour some pretty electrifying guitar playing in the tradition of one Edward Van Halen before breaking down into plenty of thunder effects and some gorgeous acoustic work. So, ok three tracks in, I'm thoroughly impressed, this Finbar geezer can play the guitar!! This album is instrumental with some vocal samples here and there but mainly it's Finbar larging it on guitar all the way! Excessive? Yeah probably! But then there's the understated acoustic beauty of "Dew" and the humour of the intro of "Cliché" which explodes into a heavy bit of blues incorporating some great harp playing! And some Keaggyesque echoes on "Interlude". Basically, if you're into rock guitar, then it's worth investigating this!
