Born and Breaded In Los Bajos De Haina, Dominican Republic Jose Nelfray Mercado AKA D1(Dominican One) Has Seen the Struggles Of a 3rd world Country. Coming To The United States at the age of 8 He was forced to leave his mother behind as him and his siblings were brought to the United States By His father which he had never met In Hopes of a better future. With his father working As a Welder In the refineries here in Houston to provided for the family, D1 never got the chance to make a bond with his father. Pulling Further and further away from his siblings do to miscommunication a rebellious & independent being started forming withing the young child. With no one to go to he turned to music for peace guidance & meditation. At a very young age he was influenced by artist such as Notorious B.I.G, Tupac, Bone Thugz N Harmony,Big Pun. Fascinated by the lyrics and also the form of expressing the real struggles in life D1 consistently listened/recited the lyrics of this artist not realizing that later on in the future he would build his Style & Swag around the artist which he had been studying for many years. At the age of 16 for the very first time D1 started expressing his experinces in Life through the form of Freestyle and found the new practice interesting and stress releaving. For 3 yrs while he himself building up his own skills in the Freestyle Form with the help of Family member/Mentor Daniel Mateo Aka Mateo he studied more artist such as Z-ro, Trae, Big Hawk, Pollo, The Game, 50 Cent, Big Moe & Chamillionaire(All artist Who are/ were very well known for there Freestyle abilities and talent) In 2006 due to unfortunate events D1 was forced to leave home. While being away he caught a felony case which he served 6 months in the Harris County Jail Correctional Facilities. There He Met A young man by the name of Randy Garza aka Lil Nova. Lil Nova Who was currently working on his second album do to realease after his time served in Jail asked D1 to compose a song consisting of Spanish & English lyrics which is where D1 himself began exposing and sharpening His Music Composing skills. After His realease D1 started collaborating with an upcoming group Called Street Profit. Realizing that their Interest & Goals In The Music Industry were different D1 set out As A Solo Arstist where he then Met Reggeatone Artist Cubanito. Signing with K9 Music D1 is now making his presence felt in the music industry & with a stunning performance at the 2007 Screwfest he now holds all the right elements and skills that it takes to break into mainstream. Motivated by Poverty & the struggles He and his family have experienced D1 brings a Unique unheard style of a English and Spanish mix of precise lyrics. The World Will Soon Know who D1 is.
