I'm the author of the new 33-1/3 volume on Steely Dan's Aja. You'll now go to amazon.com or wherever and buy one, if you know what's good for me. My band, a respectably popular jazzy pop entity called Monkey House [www.monkeyhouse.com], is in its 14th year. I'm half of DNA Music Productions, and therefore co-composer on the worldwide hit animated series 6teen. My stateside brother Jeff and I have a successful songwriting partnership [www.breithauptbrothers.com] that smacks of mid-century Broadway and has led to some high-profile recordings by jazz and R&B artists like Dione Taylor [www.dionetaylor.com] and Adi Braun [www.adibraun.com]. My previous books include Precious and Few: Pop Music in the Early '70s and Night Moves: Pop Music in the Late '70s, both for St. Martin's Press. I got my musical education at Berklee College of Music in Boston and my literary education at Queen's University in Kingston. I've written rafts of stuff on music and film, most often for the National Post, a Toronto-based daily. I'm a voting member of the New York-based Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. I'm proud to report that my busy career as a keyboard player includes stints with Blue Note artist Marc Jordan [www.marcjordan.com] and Aquarius/EMI artist Sass Jordan [www.sassjordan.com] -- no relation.
