Mal had 2 songs in the finals for the 2007 MLT songwriters awards
these are 'don't be gone too long' and 'can't lose everytime' ...the Award was won in 2007 by Chanelle Davis.
Mal won the 2006 MLT Songwriters Awards, he had three songs in the final ten, including 'thinkin' about you' and 'back home', both off 'above the wires', and won with 'hangin' by a thread'.
Mal was a finalist in 2008 with an as yet unreleased track "Rock 'n' Rolled a little Too long"

* Mal has been writing, playing and singing since the late 60's
* Now based in Auckland New Zealand
* mal has a recording career that began with albums in 1976, 1978 and 1980, the last two in australia
* Was based in Sydney for 13 years.
* He released the CD "Stepping Stones" in auckland in 2000.
* Mal released 'above the wires' in 2006.
* Mal plays keyboards and guitar, mainly acoustic, his main one being a hand built New Zealand made "Tui" guitar from Laurie Williams.
