About Me

Digitus Infamis and the Howlglass are a musical side to the work of artist Brian Benson. Music includes solo and multi-tracked acoustic percussion, sometimes as recorded, often electronically processed, rearranged and warped. Other approaches include densely layered drum machines and synths tortured into techno-dub monstrosities or quirky soundscapes. Also a rock'n'roll drummer, Brian has played in several commercially doomed bands including Manchester's long lost and criminally ignored psych-garage band Lobe. Now playing drums with the Sandells .

Sounds Like: CLATTERPHONICS:Giant clockwork insects fighting rattlesnakes in a well. The Red Army Choir if they were drum machines. The sonic equivalent of my psychedelic-baroque landscapes. An explosion in a dustbin factory. Gamelan played on Pringles cans in an echo-chamber. Samba played on the skulls or long- extinct thunder-dragons. Shards of ice shattering against the walls of a cavern while skeletons shiver themselves to pieces and stalactites begin to crack. A glass orb rung to produce sustained harmonics and phantom overtones. Literally.
