I am here for Friends

About Me

Some basics on myself, I:
- Am a gender egalitarian -
- Like to collect teapots and outside things -
-Am a Taurus with Leo rising -
- Am cold and distant, yet warm and caring -
- Am shy and introverted, bouncy and playful -
- Smile anytime I see Robert Smith dancing -
- Become attracted to the oddest people -
- Am a hopeless romantic -
- Have never met an animal I didn't like -
- Am madly in love with books, libraries, vintage thingies, and antiques -
- Very much want to learn how to play the Cello, Piano, & Violin -
- Am somewhat of a self-proclaimed artist -
- Am a klepto when it comes to LJ icons, especially the ones that move 0.0 -
- Smell like a Strawberry Shortcake doll according to Amanda, and a dirty hippie according to everyone else ^_^ -
Quotes “I myself have never been able to find out what precisely feminism is: I only know that people call me a feminist whenever I express sentiments that differentiate me from a doormat.”
-Rebecca West, early feminist activist (1913)-
"I'm selfish, impatient, and a little insecure. I make mistakes. I am out of control at times and hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best."
- Marilyn Monroe -
An artist's duty is rather to stay open-minded and in a state where he can receive information and inspiration. You always have to be ready for that little artistic Epiphany.
I'm very happy to hear that my work inspires writers and painters. It's the most beautiful compliment, the greatest reward. Art should always be an exchange.
I'm a believer. I don't go to church. I don't belong to any particular religion, but I do believe in God. I couldn't write what I write about and be creative without a certain form of belief.
I think I have always had a pretty strong creative impulse. And that has probably saved me from abandoning myself completely.
I've always had an obligation to creation, above all.
- All of the above, Nick Cave -
"The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents."
- H.P. Lovecraft -
"I have dwelt ever in realms apart from the visible world; spending my youth and adolescence in ancient and little-known books, and in roaming the fields and groves of the region near my ancestral home. I do not think that what I read in these books or saw in these fields and groves was exactly what other boys read and saw there; but of this I must say little, since detailed speech would but confirm those cruel slanders upon my intellect which I sometimes overhear from the whispers of the stealthy attendants around me."
- H.P. Lovecraft, "The Tomb" -
"That is not dead which can eternal lie / And with strange aeons even death may die."
- H.P. Lovecraft, quoting the Necronomicon, in "The Nameless City" -
Things I Loathe
- PETA -
- Ignorant people -
- Narrow-minded folks -
- Militant anything. Whether you be a militant feminazi, vegan, christian, or PETA supporter, I'd rather avoid you -
- Abusive people -
- Sociopaths -
- Fur (unless vintage, as it really doesn't matter then) -
- Bitchy, hypocritical, negative people -
- Poseurs and certain scene kids -
- Those who sell religion -
- Racism of ALL kinds, nobody's exempt -
A Very Brief Summary
I'm definitely not a religious person, but I am a spiritual one. I believe the Bible to be nothing more than stories & allegories and thusly do not base any of my beliefs or behavior on it. Believe it or not though, I do have morals and ethics ;)...
I'm very interested in Buddhism, Paganism, Witchcraft, Hinduism and Gnosticism... I'm rather fond of religious iconography, The Virgin Mary, Ganesh, Kwan Yin, rosaries, and really old churches. However, I am not Catholic, Hindu, or Wiccan, nor do I belong to any other particular religious persuasion. I imagine I lean a little towards Unitarian Universalism though. I believe in some higher power and that whatever "it" is, it is a kind benevolent sort of higher power. An exclusionary members only country club sort of afterlife just doesn't jive with me... I don't believe in a hell, though I have the vague impression that the Devil just might exist... Feel free to pray for me, though it won't do anyone any good. It's never changed me and it never will. Furthermore, I find it rather offensive when the prayer is for me to change my spiritual beliefs. If you're just doing it out of the kindness of your heart and/or praying for my well-being, I wouldn't find that offensive...
I like to go and get lost in my own head for stretches at a time. Even if it doesn't appear that I'm doing anything, I'm probably still keeping myself quite occupied :)... I'm a very friendly person, and if I see someone in need, I will do my best to help them. I don't do anything expecting something in return. Though I'm quite shy and withdrawn and rarely initiate a conversation, I'm not too incredibly anti-social :).
Music and art are an integral part of my life. I could never live without music or any other art form... So, I'm very picky when it comes to the artists I listen to, and they have to be just that: Artists, in my eyes at least. I could care less if somebody else doesn't like them...
So yes, don't go around dissing The Cure, Manson, Placebo, Nick Cave, John Lennon, or Trent Reznor in front of me. I'd be liable to smack a bitch, lol ;D.

Random Quizzes I'm Fond Of

Nick Cave... dark and creepy. You're a bi-polar
genius, with equal passion for the most
degrading aspects of humanity, as well as the
beauty & wonder of God and Heaven.

Which fucked-up genius composer are you?

You are a Self-Discoverer
You're not religious, but you've created your own kind of spirituality.
Introspective and thoughtful, you tend to look inward for the divine.
You are distrusting of all forms of organized religion.
You especially dislike religious gurus and leaders, who you feel are charlatans. What's Your Religious Philosophy?

Your Scholastic Strength Is Deep Thinking
You aren't afraid to delve head first into a difficult subject, with mastery as your goal.
You are talented at adapting, motivating others, managing resources, and analyzing risk.

You should major in:

Philosophy

Foreign language What Should You Major In?
All the subjects I love :).

You Are 40% Boyish and 60% Girlish
You are pretty evenly split down the middle - a total eunuch.
Okay, kidding about the eunuch part. But you do get along with both sexes.
You reject traditional gender roles. However, you don't actively fight them.
You're just you. You don't try to be what people expect you to be. How Boyish or Girlish Are You?

I'd like to meet:

As far as the real world goes, people who are open-minded, kind, non-homophobic, intelligent, quirky, fun, polite, and no uber-Evangelical bible beating Christians please. Those guys are always trying to "save" me - it's rather disrespectful and annoying... As far as famous people go, Placebo (again ^_^), Marilyn Manson, Nick Cave, Trent Reznor, Tori Amos, and Abbie Hoffman (yeah, I know he's dead).
