About Me
"I Feel Good" is the indelible distinguishing mark of deejay Pierluigi Scialpi’s thought and music. He was born in Manduria (TA), Italy, in 1970. He was immediately disco-oriented thanks to the records belonging to his family: with Sheila & Black Devotion, Boney M., La Bionda, Meco and the unforgettable soundtrack of Saturday Night Fever he takes the first steps in the music field. At the age of 9 he buys his first records which highlight his already clear tastes in music: Sugarhill Gang, Chic, Gloria Gaynor, Bee Gees. In 1983, after the vision of the movie Flashdance and of the breakers Rock Steady Crew, music begins to contaminate parts of his DNA: he feels the uncontrollable compulsion to brake dance. At the end of 1984 Pierluigi is invited by some friends to be present during a funny radio programme; between a gag and a song here it comes the spontaneous “Come on, why don’t you introduce a piece?â€. “Five minutes later I had introduced my first record and my voice had been broadcast for the first time!â€. Don’t Mess with Doctor Dream by Thompson Twins is the final input that totally involves body, soul and music. The following playful period provides Pierluigi with a radio broadcasting experience that expands his knowledge of music and refines his relationship with the audience. The 1980s close leaving behind parties, feasts, many important events, experiences in holiday villages, DMC freestyle competitions and a job as resident deejay at the New World disco in Marina di Pulsano (TA). It is the period of the new wave: Simple Minds, U2, The Smiths, The Cure; it is the dawn of house music, acid house and Belgian new beat. The early ‘90s at last give him the opportunity to work at the Munich Club, a cult disco in the province of Taranto; these three wonderful, unforgettable years open the way to a lot of new experiences. It is the period of the last commercial music of prime quality, the time of the consecration of house and techno music. With the passing of time his growing experience and passion allow him to perform in several important discos in Puglia, up to the present day: in summer 2006 at Quartiere Latino (Gallipoli) with RAF Organization by Raffaele Palano, in winter 2006-2007 at Disco Te Papa (Francavilla Fontana, BR) with the staff of AD Gianluca Dello Monaco. More over, we can’t forget the radio-disco collaboration with the international production team The Clubbers alias Starchaser & Black Spider. Deejay Pierluigi Scialpi always pays attention to the dance floor, to the technique, to the demands of the public, to the metamorphosis of sounds, rhythms and music trends. In the following years, thanks to these qualities and to the acquired professionalism, he is able to perform in several clubs located in the province of Taranto, Brindisi and Lecce; he keeps on offering the best of music, with a special predilection for rhythm and melody. In summer 2007 we find Pierluigi Scialpi as resident deejay in one of the cult discos in Southern Italy: Quartiere Latino (Gallipoli – LE). In his spare time he usually listens to the national radio networks; he loves in particular the Salsoul of the 70’s, disco-jazz and the music of the renowned trumpet player Herp Albert. He is also deeply interested in the products of Deep and Funk House and of the labels Defected, Soulfuric, Subliminal. Pierluigi Scialpi is a complete deejay, if necessary he can also be a speaker or vocalist in his musical performances. After 25 years of tapes, vinyl and CDs he still displays then same enthusiasm which marked the beginning of this terrific working experience.
