Influences: Combine influences ranging from rock, pop, blues, soul, and R&B; add five parts of intense drive and talent--what do you have? The Kimberly Kane Band. This dynamic group blasted onto the club scene in February 2005. Kimberly Kane performs a high-energy, dance-oriented show comprised of rock favorites, key classic blues tunes, Motown and R&B hits, and original music.
Lead vocalist, Kimberly Kane, has been influenced by a broad range of artists from Pop to R&B, including Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin, Buddy Guy, Mary J. Blige, Madonna, Mahalia Jackson, Susan Tedeschi, Jimmy and Stevie Ray Vaughan, Lenny Kravitz and Janis Joplin. Theatre was her first interest. She performed in plays and musicals as a young girl. Eventually, she focused on singing, received several years of professional vocal training and moved from Chicago to Rapid City, South Dakota, where she performed blues, R&B and rock music with Soul Kitchen and Shakedown. Soul Kitchen's popularity quickly developed by touring clubs in their region and opening for such bands as Big Head Todd and the Monsters, Joan Jett, and Texas guitar legend, Chris Duarte.
Moving back to the Chicago area in 2004 she fronted her own band Kimberly Kane and Big Trouble that performed a wide variety of current to classic rock and pop hits. Missing her true passion for blues based music, she quit the band after three years with them, took a year off and is now fronting two projects: The Manhattan Project and The Kimberly Kane Band.
The Manhattan Project is a nine piece band with a three piece horn section that performs high energy motown, soul and r&b with a strong dose of funk. The Kimberly Kane Band is straight away ass kickin' blues and rock.
