Dean E James of The Original Twelve Players.

About Me

Long time lover of big drums and old vinyl (thanks to my Pops (RIP) who used to take me digging with him from 4 years old!).Member of The Twelve Original Players alongside my brother Don J, who has a similar addiction. I've been making hip hop beats using Akai whatevers since 1993 (until infinity!) under the previous monikers of ACE-1 and Joe Maximus, but now I just use my given name because it's cool and I'm old.MC'ing used to be the name of the main game, but I'm out of practice from both reciting and writing. Don J is now the man in the group to hold down full microphone control, but you may see the occasional guest verse cropping up in the future!Big up all those who purchased and supported the Joe Maximus "Tangents" EP back in '97, my first and only release thus far as a producer. I've blessed the mic on the Fraudulent Movements LP, "Schism" for two tracks in 1999 and on Don J's extremely rare "Doom J" project, which was hatched in 2006.

My Interests

Digging in the crates for that good, vintage vinyl and chopping sounds up for your listening pleasure!

I'd like to meet:

Bruce Lee, Richard Roundtree, Prince Buster, Mohammed Ali, James Brown.

Music:

The best genre: GOOD music! But if you want to be specific, mainly hip-hop blesses my ears with the odd dash of free jazz and pysch rock to spice up my day.

Movies:

Lost In Translation, Juno, Memento, Mars Villa (and many other good old school kung fu flicks before wire work cheapened everything) and King of The Beats!

Television:

CSI (apart from New York: Gary Sinise should only play bad guys), Heroes, Family Guy (Peter Griffin for President!, Everybody Hates Chris.

Books:

Jamaican Warriors, Flowers for Algernon, The Book of Five Rings, The Art of War, The Alchemist.

Heroes:

My Pops, Bruce Lee, Mohammed Ali.

RIP Lilla James

What's good folks? Not me that's for sure! I was awoken at 5am this morning by a call from the same hospital that my Pops passed away in, to tell me that my Ma had "passed peacefully" just after midni...
