Shallow Al (L-TX)

One man loved the pilgrim soul in you.

About Me

I like ideas. I like bold, clever, elegant solutions to the puzzles life throws our way. Most of all, I love being alive. I don't have much time left over from grad school, but what little moments I have, I spend painting, listening to punk rock, writing, working on my top secret programming project, watching/reading sci-fi, clubbing, and philosophical debate.

My Interests

science, philosophy, philosophy of science, computers, renewable energy, self sufficiency, freedom, sustainable technology, ballroom dance, painting, biking, transhumanism, extropy, cryonics, longevity, life extension, cryonics, libertarianism, anarchism, deism, energy crisis, permaculture, very pale women with freckles

I'd like to meet:

Looking for INTPs , INTJs , ENTPs , and ENTJs of both genders living in San Antonio to chat with and generally be friends with. Starved for intellectual company, particularly of fellow scientists and backyard inventors.

Music:

Punk, Rockabilly/Psychobilly, Celtic, Techno, Folk, Zydeco, anything funny and offensive

Movies:

I forget the title, but it's the one where that famous guy plays a tough veteran cop teamed up with the guy from that TV series who plays a rookie cop, and together they have to rescue that tall blonde woman whose name escapes me from a building which is about to be blown up by terrorists who sell drugs. You know the movie I mean, everyone saw it-- it had that car vs helicopter chase scene and also the scene where they're in a speedboat and ram right into a pier. You KNOW you saw it, and you KNOW it was good, so stop being a snob.

Television:

is a thing you hook to the end of a coax cable so you can watch DVDs.

Books:

sci fi; how-to-play-poker; gardening; chinese language; anything that's clearly-written, thoroughly referenced, recently published, and relevant to my thesis

Heroes:

Rosalind Franklin, James Watson, Francis Crick, Marie Curie, Albert Einstein, Margaret Sanger, Thomas Jefferson, Dorothy Parker, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Edison, Friedrich Nietzche, Friedrich Hayek, Ayn Rand, Michael Moore, Ani DiFranco, and last but not least my coworkers who are devoting the best years of their lives to the betterment of humanity.

My Blog

Someone should start an Anarcho-Capitalist party.

Why, you ask, when we already have the Libertarian party? It's a fine distinction, but one that should matter to the sorts of people who are willing to throw their votes away on symbolic gestures: on ...

Banning abortion is just the beginning.

Read this article (pirated from NY Times). If you're too impatient to read the whole thing, here's a quote for you: Zenarolla told me she converted to Catholicism two years ago: "I tell people I bec...

I'll only add bands on the following condition...

As you've noticed there is an epidemic of bands friend-slutting on MySpace. Nothing wrong with that, but I'm going to ignore requests from bands unless one of the following conditions is met: a) ...
