About Me

..
That which we are... Made weak by time and fate. But strong in will to strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.
~ Lord Tennyson

About Me: ***WARNING: This is going to be a bit scattered and rambling as I'm coming up with it as I go along. *** Anyway... having recently graduated with social work and psychology degrees, I just recently and permanently left the Mistake On The Lake (Ohio) for the Valley Of The Sun (Arizona). My Myers-Briggs personality type is INFJ, making me a bit of an introvert, usually preferring to stay home and watch one of my favorite tv shows on dvd than go out (although I do love to eat out). My introversion is ironic because I tend to be attracted to extroverted fields. Thus far, I've aspired to be a paleontologist (ok, maybe that one's not so extroverted), a teacher, a college professor, an actress (see more about that in the Who I'd Like To Meet section), and - for the last eight or so years, a social worker/therapist. I also don't like cats (for pets), but I love Garfield - the cartoon cat! I love "hard" music just as much as I love "soft" music. I'm very smart in school and at work, but can be kind of dim-witted about the simplest things sometimes (or so I've been told). So I'm kind of a contradictory person! lol! Leisure time for me includes watching my favorite shows on dvd or a favorite movie, learn about geography (it fascinates me, but I don't know why), collect 'quotable quotes', read, listen to music, do some yoga or meditate, crossword puzzles, eat out, and play board games with friends (see My Pics for that and more!). I'm not interested in looking important by having 5 million "friends", so if you decide to send me a friend request, I would like to know why you're interested in being my friend and/or what we have in common. Otherwise it's likely I'll deny you - not because I'm mean, but because I have no interest in amassing a large friend list of people I don't even know. (Of course, if you're someone I already know I'll accept you right away.) Also, I love angels and fairies and other woodland sprites (see the slideshow below). I have a large and eclectic music collection, but my favorite genre is "Beauty And The Beast" metal - harsh male vocals contrasted with soft, angelic female vocals. I looooove the duality and complexity of it. Most of my favorite bands are from Europe. This reminds me... I have traveled to many U.S. states, Canada, and some countries in Europe, but I have never seen a place that I like more or more beautiful than Arizona. This is now my "true" home and where I want to spend the rest of my life. Traveling is also a great joy - I especially want to go back to Italy and see the Great Barrier Reef one day. I love dogs too and have my own "daughter" Nikita, who is a Siberian Husky! I have also had many different kinds of birds throughout my childhood and adult life... parakeets, finches, canaries. I'd eventually like to get a huge, green parrot, but that's years down the road. I love all animals, even if I wouldn't particularly like them for a pet, I love them all! lol This is me.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Peta Wilson!!! I'd give almost anything to meet her just once... she inspired me to come out of "my shell". I used to be extremely introverted and shy (I'm still introverted, but only because most of the time I prefer being alone or with few people, not because I'm shy anymore). Her talent and charisma on La Femme Nikita inspired me so much that (for awhile) I wanted to be an actress. I decided to stop being so shy and start taking risks, so I took classes and auditioned at the Juilliard school in my senior year of high school. I didn't get accepted because I had absolutely no idea what I was doing and was very naive at the time, but I still pursued it for awhile and was in a few local plays in my area. During all that, I was going to a community college as "back-up" and took a psychology course. It FASCINATED me and so I took more and more the next semester and the next (I was originally a drama major) and decided that that was what I really wanted to do instead. So that's pretty much how I got to where I am today. During the time I was pursuing acting (during my high school years), I had written Peta a few letters and told her that she had inspired me to go into acting. Well, she had sent me back two autographed photos of herself saying "good luck at your auditions" and "thanks for watching, best wishes"!!! So I will always have those as a memory of my "acting days" (which were a lot of fun!), even though I've since decided on a different career. But anyway, to make a long (and probably boring) story short, she really inspired me and still does to this day. She came all the way over here from Australia by herself - knowing nobody - to pursue her dream. It takes A LOT of guts to do that!!! And I very much admire that! I admire her for her acting abilities too, but it's mostly for that reason that I look up to her. Some people are too lazy to change jobs or go to school, let alone move to another country by themselves where they know no one in order to have their dream job. So I really admire her for that, even still today. So that's why I would hope one day I could meet her - even if only a few minutes, just to get my picture taken and tell her that directly. But that's a long shot. I took a lot of chances that I probably would not have ended up taking if I had not been that inspired.

Pangea forming into Earth as we know it today – is this fascinating or what?!!!

Note: I do not rank my friends. Therefore you'll never see any of them in my Friend Space.
