About Me
"All that lies ahead of me is work", a quote that is of not just personal significance, but is illustrative of Nicatyne's commitment to his craft. At nine years old most children haven't the attention span to listen to an entire album, let alone self produce and record lyrics for one. However as Nicatyne's name implies, which was given to him by his cousin, he is a man of habit.
Born Nicolas Samuel Gwyn in Long Beach, California, Nicatyne spent sick years near the very heart of the west coast sound before him and his parents moved to Sacramento California where he currently lives hard at work in the studio daily. Like many of the great producers before him, Nicolas showed a natural talent for music at a very early age, demonstrated by the fact his father bought nick a drum set at just two years old and he taught himself to play. Along with the drums, Nicatyne can play just about any instrument from the conventional piano to the not so conventional xylophone; a skill which allows him to fully experiment with his sound. Amazingly at just nine years old, nick self produced fourteen tracks and wrote the lyrics for a album he entitled "Hot garbage and cheese". In high school at Inderkum High, located in Natomas he was part of a very popular four-man group called Hoodlum Havoc; whom released the wildly popular "Havoc Blvd.". Nicatyne's sound is a product of creativity and an appreciation for those that have paved their own niche in the industry. Nicolas sites Dr. Dre, Timbaland, Mad Lib, Hi-Tek, Dj Battlecat, Neptunes,Thx, and the late great J-Dilla as his musical influences. Aside from his production skills, Nicolas is a talented lyricist, mixing up topics with a witty perceptive.
They say when much is given much is expected, that is why the desire to create new, original and high quality music is always on Nicatyne's mind.
