Alex Stuart

Guitarist Alex Stuart hails from Canberra, Australia, and now lives and performs in Paris, France. He graduated from the Australian National University’s School of Music in 2004 and moved to Paris in September 2005.In Paris he plays regularly with his band ‘The Alex Stuart Quartet’ and with several other groups: the Alex Stuart/Warren Walker Band; Abakuya (led by Camerounian Francois Essindi); NewElectroSoulSession; TANG!; with singer Moira; Black Sesame and the Matt Boden/Alex Stuart Organ Trio. He has played at some of Paris’s best known clubs such as the Sunside, the Baiser Sale, The Scene Bastille, The Elysee Biarritz, the Olympic Café, The Reservoir, The Studio de L'Ermitage etc.. And concerts abroad in Ireland and Switzerland and festivals such as the Festival Rayon Frais, Jazz a Tout Heure etc...In 2005 he recorded his first album, Waves, with funding support from the ACT Government’s artsACT. Waves featured his original compositions. The eleven other performers include some of Australia’s top jazz musicians such as Eric Ajaye, Miroslav Bukovsky and James Hauptmann. Waves was featured on Australia’s top national radio jazz program, ABC FM’s ‘Jazztrack’ and on the ABC’s internet radio program ‘DigJazz’. Jazztrack’s Mal Stanley described Alex as ‘a strong emerging talent ….’.Alex performed regularly in Australia from 1999 to 2005 in clubs and at jazz festivals, including the Wangaratta, Merimbula and Moruya Festivals. He performed with his Alex Stuart Quintet and in groups such Perfunktion, King Clovis, the Dan Banks Band, Crisp, Fermented Cool and the Dave Panichi Latin Band. ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------------------------------------Guitariste diplômé en 2004 du conservatoire de l’Université Nationale d’Australie, Alex Stuart, originaire de Canberra, réside et joue à Paris depuis Septembre 2005. Et des concerts en Suisse et en Irelande et des Festivals tel que le Festival Rayon Frais, Jazz a Tout Heure etc...En 2005 il compose et enregistre son premier album Waves avec le soutien financier du gouvernement Australien. On compte parmi les onze musiciens ayant participé au projet certains des plus fameux de la scène australienne tels qu’ Eric Ajaye, Miroslav Bukovsky et James Hauptmann. L’émission radio de jazz la plus connue d’Australie, ‘Jazztrack’ de ABC FM (radio nationale) diffuse Waves et son présentateur Mal Stanley qualifie Alex « d’ excellent jeune talent ». Waves est également choisi comme album vedette pendant deux mois sur le programme internet DigJazz de l’ABC. Entre 1999 et 2005, Alex a joué régulièrement dans des clubs ou pour des festivals de jazz, comme ceux de Wangaratta, Merimbula et Moruya.
