This band formed for Singapore Battle of the Bands 2006. In all seriousness, they wanted to see how far can a project band go. With members hailing from different bands such as rapcore regiment Project Liquid, prog-Ska outfit Glitched, latin-reggae lovers Fatskunks and homegrown Chinese rock hybrid Shinobi, Say Whale battled with 50+ bands all the way to the finals where they clinched the first prize despite having to have a substitute drummer coming in at the last minute to replace Ajud due to a last minute change in the final schedules.
Say Whale in a nutshell describes nothing else but nutcases running the band. As the name suggests, it holds no meaning in the traditional English dictionary except for a call for the audience to chant the name of the largest mammal living under the sea. In the Malay language, it's double meaning refers to a derogative slang depicting a person's unsound state of mind.
