Band Members: The 3rd Annual "Sing In Harmony" Course commences on Monday February 16th. If you are interested in learning more about singing harmony in a positive, friendly and progressive environment, come along to Norths club in Cammeray (Sydney) on 6 consecutive Monday nights and join in the fun and excitement of being part of a 4-part harmony a cappella choir. For more details and to register,,,,,,,,,, ring 98506749.................................................... ............................................................ ............................................................ .............In 2007 Sydney Harmony hosted the AAMBS 9th National Convention at Darling Harbour in beautiful downtown Sydney. From the 27th to 30th of September 2007 the city came alive with some of the best a cappella singers in the country and from around the world. Special guests GOTCHA! (2004 BHS International Quartet champions) and The Idea of North (Australia's number one Contemporary vocal group and former Harmony Sweepstakes winners) totally rocked at the Harmony Spectacular Concert - a fitting climax to the previous few days of competition and other singing events that helped make this Convention so memorable! A special "thankyou" goes to all the Convention delegates and competitiors who came, sang, had fun and contributed in various ways to make this event such a great success.
Influences: We admire some of the top a cappella choruses, quartets and vocal ensembles from around the world. In particular we have been influenced by the Vocal Majority, the Toronto Northern Lights, the Westminster Chorus, the Louisville Times, the Masters of Harmony and the Ambassadors of Harmony. We love listening to quartets like Realtime, Vocal Spectrum, OC Times, Acoustix, Gas House Gang, Four Voices, Michigan Jake, Keepsake and Max Q. Jazz-based groups like The Idea of North, The Real Group, Cadence, Take 6, Vox One and New York Voices thrill us and groups such as the Song Company, Chanticleer, Anuna, Rajaton and the Kings' Singers inspire us.
Sounds Like: Sydney Harmony's members come from a broad range of age groups, occupations and backgrounds - but all with a common love of singing. We welcome any men who can hold a tune and have an interest in enjoying harmony to audition to join our ranks.
