Maybe it was the exhaust steam drifting over from the CANDU reactor in Dave's early childhood home of Pickering, ON. Maybe it was Kurt Cobain yelling this at him: "He's the one/who loves all our pretty songs/and he likes to sing along/and he likes to shoot his gun/But he don't know what it means." Whatever the case, he was hooked. Dave began writing original songs in his teens and recording some on his computer.
After recording and releasing "The CDR EP" in November of 2007 on his Funny Crater label, Dave continued playing shows in and out of the city more often. In the meantime he was writing and recording material that would end up on his next EP "Exactly OFF," released as of December 2008. The recording, mixing and producing of which was mostly done by Dave in his Lisgar street apartment.
