Since 2001, he has collaborated with Traci Kelly on a body of work questioning the boundaries of individual and collaborative practice, most notably through their series of 'Lone Duets'. The resulting works have been a series of intimate and queer events, both moving and spectacular, exploring the liminal and differential spaces between disparate subjects. His current practice exists at the intersection of dance and visual art, questioning the possibilities of 'choreographic' practice as a process and structure for 'fine art' enquiry. The qualities of skin and paper, as cultural and material membranes, are explored as potential sites for 'abrasion' and dual-contact.His wider areas of interest surround questions of cultural and racial whiteness, masculinity, and non-reproductive sexualities. His engagement with art is fundamentally a phenomenological practice, and he is currently invested in the potential for his work to explore a 'queer' and 'queered' phenomenology. He has performed and exhibited extensively throughout the UK and Europe, and in Australia and South America. He is currently based in San Francisco, USA.******************************************************** ************************************************************ ************************************************************ **Further details of Richard Hancock's collaboration with Traci Kelly can be found at: www.hancockandkellylive.com********************************* ************************************************************ ************************************************************ ****************************CURRENT WORK******************************************************** ************************************************************ ************************************************************ *****LONE DUETS (with Traci Kelly) - a series of solo performances made alternately by hancock and kelly in response to one another's works. a game of performance chess. a re-thinking of collaboration. a chain reaction. a viral infection. an excercise in contamination... the series includes: Richard Hancock 'Dermographia' (2005), Traci Kelly 'In Season' (2006), Richard Hancock 'Postures A-to-M' (2006), Traci Kelly 'The Mirror Pool' (2007), Richard Hancock 'Open Wound' (2007), and Traci Kelly 'Rupture' (2008)...further details can be found online at www.hancockandkellylive.com ************************************************************ ************************************************************ ********************************************************** THREEPOINTTHREESEVEN (with Julie Vulcan) - a year long project dedicated to the possibilities of new space. on april 16th 2007, richard hancock listened to a favourite piece of music for the last time. its duration was 3 minutes and 37 seconds. on the 16th of each month, for the next year, julie vulcan memorialised that moment by listening to the same music. richard hancock found something new to fill that time... ************************************************************ ************************************************************ ********************************************************** I AM H_UNTED BY...
