Raised in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Lived in several areas but mainly in the city. Writing has always been a passion. First published piece was done at age 7. The poem 'Life' was awarded a silver medal in the national poetry competition. Music played a big role especially with influences as Beenie Man and Buju Banton. Feeling the riddims, learning the lyrics and ofcourse the new dance to go with it. Over the years the writing of short stories still dominated until in 1996 Q-tey moved to the Netherlands where she would meet upcoming artists who would play a big role in her developing skills as a song writer and MC. The first song that Q-tey has ever written is called 'Inna di club'. This song was made through influence from Shazman who encouraged Q-tey to give songwriting a try. After this song, Q-tey started writing more songs and then came the second song 'Motions' which had a higher level of dancehall. Q-tey has been writing ever since and has recently recorded some songs with Shazman, Rizky Ruff & Killachild.
