I am here for Friends

About Me

I was dragged kicking and screaming into this abyss but, as it turns out, I'm enjoying my stay...
I love anything to do with the ocean... Cats draped all over the furniture... Watching cartoons in my jammies... Fridge magnets (mine are a microcosm of my entire life)... Good Irish whiskey... And people who can't sing a note, but do it anyway, good and loud. Joyful... Beautiful.
I'm told I have a tendency to swear like a sailor (apparently I have invented my own cusswords ~"Sentence Enhancers"~ ask my kids about that!), but please don't let that throw you; I actually do have a soft heart. Seriously.
(And, incidentally, it's not true what they said in The Breakfast Club... When you grow up, your heart doesn't die... Not if you don't let it...)
My relationship with God is complicated... and personal. Recently, I have learned that the best (and only) way to serve him is with your eyes, arms, heart and mind open, and your mouth shut. Think about it. :)
My husband is my best friend and lends new meaning to the term "good sport", and my three beautiful daughters are the smartest, most centered, funniest, nicest, hippest people in the Universe. ♥

"There is a form of laughter that springs from the heart, heard every day in the voice of childhood, the expression of a laughter-loving spirit that defies analysis by the philosopher, which has nothing rigid or mechanical in it, and totally without social significance. Bubbling spontaneously from the heart of child or man. Without egotism and full of feeling, laughter is the music of life." - Sir William Osler (thanks for all the smiles, Chris ♥)

I'd like to meet:

Old friends; new Shiny Happy People

My Blog

So Barbeque Dude only speaks the truth, apparently.

This references a real-life player in my last whiny rant of a blog.  To recap:  Barbeque Dude is a guy I met at a summer party with significant neurological issues, who claimed to not be able to find ...

Waiting patiently for my colorist to call me into her chambers last Saturday morning at the hair salon, I was perusing a recent ish of Glamour& or maybe it was Self; my short-term memory isnt that gr...

A Very Brady MySpace Anniversary!

No way was I getting a MySpace page. Lighten up, said my nears-and-dears. It's fun. But at the time, from my vantage point, MySpace was largely populated by individuals who were full of shit. I may b...

Sister Belle, and the end of the Rainbow

With all credit going out to My Old Man for making this point, damn whoever wrote that cheesy "Rainbow Bridge" poem. Damn him or her for pulling out all the cheap-shot stops, and stomping to bits the ...

A year

The second worst thing ever to happen to me, started happening one year ago today. (The first worst was nearly losing our newborn daughter to a mongo-gongo infection she picked up from our pet iguana...

Missus Macca and other musings

Having watched the tirade of an interview on the "Today" show this morning with Heather Mills, I've reached this conclusion: I have very strong feelings regarding her, regarding her soon-to-be ex, and...

Hanson, Shmanson... "Music's music, dear boy..."

The family and I, we have come to the conclusion that we have officially lost count of the times we've seen Hanson play.  It's become a tradition ("Dead Heads"... "Hanson Heads"?), and last night...

It must be the end of the world.

Because today I got a hug, an apology, and an "I love you" from the person I least expected to ever receive those things from.  Ever, ever, ever... (No, not the Old Man.  He does all th...
