The Bellwether District was born out of the music of Colin Pound. After three years of solo work, Colin joined up with former Jealousy Curve bassist Mike O'Brien, and with fellow high school senior Trevor Buglio. Colin sings and plays guitar, Trevor drums, and Mike plays bass. The band is occasionally joined by Mike Zinno, on electric guitar.
The Bellwether District was created with the release of Colin Pound's latest EP, "Pura Vida". The CD release show was a benefit concert for a Costa Rican elementary school. The show was called "Rock for Rice and Beans". Feeling the need to rock grow strong during preparations for the show, Colin called upon Mike and Trevor to join up in this worthy cause.
Recently, The Bellwether District headlined the Skippack Springfest Musicfest at Village Coffeehaus in Skippack, PA. Mike Zinno joined the band on four songs. A video of "Tonight, by the Moonlight" can be found below.
The Bellwether District will be releasing an album at some point this summer. The album, entitled "Surface of the Earth", will mark the official beginning of The Bellwether District. Colin, Mike and Trevor will be joined by Mike Zinno, Keith VanGough, Hannah Gruen, and many others in the studio on this album. Also, director Andy Hoffman, of Unagi Films, will be filming a music video for one of the tracks on this album. As more details are hammered out, they will be posted here.
