: In 1990, Kid and Play had a Saturday morning cartoon show on television. At the end of every episode,
they freestyled. One day, after an episode Don Apollo was inspired to write his first rhyme.
He was nine years old at the time and has been writing music ever since.
Don Apollo was born James Clerveaux on 2/17/1982 in Brooklyn, New York.
He's lived in various places throughout his life- moving from Brooklyn to Queens, Boston, Miami,
Port au Prince (Haiti) and then finally settling in Orlando. He's attended the schools,
formed bonds with the people, and ran the streets in each of these cities. Don Apollo's
unique musical and lyrical style is an incorporation of sounds adapted from the different cultures from the
places that he's lived. Whether rapping in English or Creole over hip hop, club, or reggae tracks,
Don Apollo delivers a fresh sound to a broad range of music lovers.
Also included in his music are his life experiences, giving it a realness and street edge
that can't be denied. Hustling, robbing, selling drugs was his way of life- anything necessary
to get money and provide for his family (he had his first son at the age of nineteen). After
having one too many close encounters with rivals and several run-ins with the law, Don Apollo traded the street
life for one that focuses more on entrepeneurial business ventures, growing his music label
5 Star Entertainment Inc., and making quality music.
Don Apollo released his first undergound CD entitled 'The Shadow' with 12 hard-hitting tracks when he was nineteen.
His second undergound CD entitled 'Get Familiar' was released with 16 solid tracks after he had his daughter
at the age of 22. He marketed and sold copies of the mix CDs to local stores and on the streets
himself creating a local fan base and buzz on the streets. Currently Don Apollo is promoting himself as a hip hop artist, concentrating on
5 Star Entertainment Inc., and opening up a professional recording studio in the Orlando Area.
When asked what the name Don Apollo meant, he replied as follows, 'Don means boss, and Apollo is the Greek God of Divine,
