You Know It's All About The AMEN... .... .. ..">MUSICALLY: Paul Siscoe was born and raised in New York City where he learned to spin records at the tender age of 14. In 1979 Hip-Hop was in its infancy and Paul was in his adolescence. The dawn of a new era in music was all around the city and the now legendary Afrika Bambaataa and DJ Kool Herc were busy helping to turn the acts of MC’ing, DJ’ing, and B-Boying from a lifestyle into a culture. Like many teenagers that summer Paul convinced his mother to buy him a set of turntables, a mixer and speakers. Countless hours were spent at the record stores all over Manhattan looking for the next big break beat to cut and mix with his fellow DJ’s.As a founding member of The Zodiac Crew, Paul and his friends began to slowly build a name for themselves throughout the 5 boroughs amongst crews like Grandmaster Flash and The Furious 5, The Treacherous 3, and KRS 1/Boogie Down Productions. Paul continued to build his skills as a DJ at the various parties thrown by the Zodiac: community center throw-downs, beats in the park, mix-tapes and mad skills carried The Zodiac to new heights and planted a seed in a young boy that would take years to fully develop. As often happens, life takes over. After a long hiatus, Paul Siscoe was re-introduced to turntablism culture during a rave he attended while in Dallas, Texas in1997 but it didn’t truly take effect until 2000 when he moved back Portland, Oregon. The beats may have changed, but a keen ear and the mechanics of the game had not gone away. So once again he dusted off his skills changed his name to djjinn and set sights on the DnB/Jungle scene for this current foray, which lead to a yearlong residency at CLUB USA in Los Angeles in 2005. Now calling Portland his permanent home and musical base he’s giving back to the music and community he loves by running “Tremors†local dnb monthly as well as once a year putting on a dnb dj battle in the Pacific Nw to give up and comers a solid stage to be heard outside the bedrooms. While still finding the time to keep the dance floor grooving playing intense sets that brings together the spirit of the old school and the body of the new..
