About Me

After having graced the ranks of numerous bands whose names are now just distant memories, such as Acoustic Junkies, Buffalo Skinners, The Sun Devils and Steerpyke, today I find myself the proud owner of two bass playing jobs.Kola Koca are a six piece band, based around the singer/song writer Ray Pierce and have been described as Pink Floyd meets the Waterboys, which takes some imagining, but I do see what they mean.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Anyone with something original to say....so that excludes, people that want to talk about Big Brother, people who want to convince me of the brilliance of Babyshambles and girls who say "I work in a hairdressers and I'd really love to cut your hair"

Incubation by Lighterthief

Last month I had the unenviable task of trying to put into words what it is that Lighterthief actually do when they perform live. It seems only logical that I re-visited 2006’s Incubation album ...

Tyla and the Dogs D’Amour @ Faringdon School Hall

Faringdon junior school is not known to be rock and roll central, by any stretch of the imagination, but having ventured up there last year for a solo gig by Tyla, the fact that this time he was back...

Lighterthief review (Beehive 3rd Feb 08)

Lighterthief aren't a band in the conventional sense, a more apt description would be a studio project that spawns the occasional foray onto the live stage from time to time. Consequently live outing...

Ivy Tilsleys Plastic Surgeon @ Legends Lounge 31st January 08

They say that you never visit the places of interest right on your own door step, which appears to be a good analogy for this review. All the years I have known the man performing tonight under...

Did you have a good Shuffle?

A few months ago I wrote an article suggesting an underlying apathy towards the Swindon music scene, much discussion ensued on the various forums and as is always the way of these things no de...

Jesus Was A Socialist - David Marx, an album review.

Coming to this album, as I did, at the same time as the brilliant, My Crucial Execution, opens up many opportunities to compare an artist at different stages of his craft. The reason for this is that...
