The name Amon Ra comes from Egyptian history and means God of the Sun. His music has influence from the Balkan states with a mixture of oriental instruments and rhythms with heavy hip hop beats.Amon Ra (Zdenko Prgomet) was born in Bosnia. He came to Sweden in early 90’s, because of the war. In 1994 he became a member of B.I.B. He started as a beatmaker and producer. Together with Cekic, another group member, he produced almost all B.I.B. songs.Two years later, Amon Ra together with other group members starts a local radio station. This station was first in Sweden to arrange R&B festival.In 1998 was the first time Amon Ra heard someone raping in Bosnian. He and his mate Cekic, who also is coming from Bosnia, decided to try making songs in Bosnian. Their first songs came out year 1999. And people who heard their songs were so impressed of the sound they heard. But there were not only Bosnians who were impressed, even Swedish rap groups liked their sound. So Amon Ra and his mate started a production team Str8Dope which eventually became a well known producing team. And now they have a lot of projects from different artists around the world.Besides of all these projects, Amon Ra was working hard with his first solo album. Amonracija was released 2004. His lyrics are all about his hard life and the things around him. Some of the lyrics are political and his message to the people out there in Bosnia is to cherish the love. He is totally against nationalism and he says that the only difference between people is good people and bad people.Two years later after being busy with promotion of his album he starts some projects with Haris Halilovic. They formed production team called 100 Hz.For the moment, Amon Ra is working on his 2:nd album. It will be released in sumer 2009.
