Coopah

About Me

Coopah is a non profit "group" centred around the vision of creating stripped down, honest, freely available music. Taking cues from the folk / punk / post hardcore movements that have spanned many decades - Coopah will make music that, hopefully, adds to this tradition.

Coopah was formed sometime in 2004 / 2005 in a pretty rancid bedroom in digs near a football stadium after I saw Ian Mackaye's The Evens. Soon afterwards I was embroiled in the sordid and confused world of Deus Machina's (www.myspace.com/deusmachina666) Lee burns: a man who pretty much embodies UK punk. His awesome ear came in handy polishing my scrappy folk-esque output and we played many a gig together (with sometime bassist Simon "Magus" Ball of FNMUK).

Times change.

I am capricious and am blessed with a paralyzingly short attention span.

So now Coopah exists in a few schizoid guises... a folk band... an acoustic "lounge" act... a post hardcore loop n guitar minimalist experiment...

I hope you enjoy.

Whether the songs are based around history, emotion, experience or the will to protest - Coopah will wear it's brass plated heart on a tattered sleeve.....
...Salut!
Some Footage of me giving it some pure, unadulterated stick on vox and guitar for the best band that never was - The Pissed Virgins (www.myspace.com/thepissedvirgins) covering Helmet's utterly timeless bit of aggro rock UNSUNG.
