( Rock & Folk )
ELOÃ
Growing up the Caribbeans, Eloï was from a very early age immersed in the islands traditional music, and among others Eugene Monas ancestral percussions.
He was at the same time exposed to French songs, very much enjoyed in his family. As a teenager, he opened up to other sounds when he discovered reggae.(Bob Marley, Peter Tosh).
Things became clear when at the age of 16, he settled in France where he deepened his musical taste in various ways. An English friend initiated him into rock and he fell in love with Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd or POLICE. The black community bathed him in funks, between MAZE and James Brown . Then he realized the poetic dimension of the lyrics, discovering Brel, Ferré and Gainsbourg. From then, he took the decision not to be locked in the all of a genre when its so rewarding to pick up among influences, more similar than they first seem.
It will take some 15 years to make the dreamed mix become real. He played the guitar in various bands from blues to gospel. He endlessly looked for a singer to emphasize his own compositions until drawn by the emotion of his sons birth; he took the mike and even went back to school to improve his vocal skills.
For 6 years, he has been performing with the multi-cultural band he created ABDM (Au Bout Du Monde which means To the end of the world).
The latest concerts have been very successful: Eloïs glamorous warm voice seduced the audience and gave them the urge to move.
Refusing as well the world music and the French song labels, he succeeds in creating a real symbiosis between the two. His demanding lyrics celebrate love and rebellion, just as the explosive cocktail of blues and Caribbean rhythms do, spiced up with Latin elements.
Carried by the passion for groove and partying, Eloï asserts his universe freely while his relaxed and joyful determination impresses.H.M. ( Rock & Folk )
