PORNO & ART IN THE PIXEL LAND OF DESIRE
Art or pornography? Does one exclude the other or can both terms be lustfully combined? What could be seen for the first time in 1996 in Lausanne (Switzerland) at the cinema Moderne, in three dimensional- in real and touchable so to say, is now existing in a two dimensional pixel exhibition on the net. At that time, the organizers had to go through severe inspections of the guardians of public morals of Lausanne. A dislike was shown with several exhibits as well as the suggestion to remove them. As generally known, a real censorship doesn’t really exist. After a three month exhibition time, the whole thing disappeared and was stored for several years in a dark and dusty cellar. It now arises again as a curious and exciting Phoenix from the ashes - a bird of paradise from the land of senses and desire – partially fascinating, edgy, funny and hot. However, this version is uncensored the way it was originally planed, with some new exhibits which the curious collector duet Stöckli & Preissle have been continuing to add since 1996.Since may 2004 the Museum of Porn in Art has been organizing "real" exhibitions again. They take place in a small but fine winestore called Edi's Weinstube, situated in the heart of Zurich. Every month an open-minded audience gets spoiled with great contemporary porno-erotic art from young international artist. Edi's Weinstube is probably the only gallery europe-wide, that combines grape juice and erotic art.
