Producer, Remixer, Engineer: My father was an avid music fan and Im sure thats where it started. Growing up in an Indian household in the Fiji Islands until the age of 12, I had been exposed to music from all over the world. The British influence was huge along with Bollywood, Punjabi folk, Bhajans, Kirtans, Raggae, Country to Big Band and Disco. We moved to San Francisco and landed in a cultural melting pot. It was 1979 and the disco era was phasing out. The Sugar Hill Gang released, "Rappers Delight", the first ever rap record. Music seemed to be changing. I heard Kraftwerks, "Numbers", Roger and Zapps, "Grapevine", Planet Patrol, Afrika Bambaataa, Soul Sonic Force. Their new electronic styles had me hooked. I started Djing in 1983 and by 1985 I had my first drum machine and was soon incorporating original beats into my live mix. I was making hip hop beats for the neighborhood rappers and by 1988 ended up producing in the studio. There I met DJ EFX who turned me on to house/techno music. Over the next few years, I built up my personal studio and worked on various dance/freestyle projects with recording artist, Milo, who later went on to be the lead singer for Spanish Fly. My heart was always in the cutting edge/underground styles so in 1992, I decided to quit my day job and take the music seriously. I hooked up with DJ EFX and DJ Digit who were just starting "Third Floor Productions". With nine separate studios pumping out tracks twenty four seven, it went on to become a West Coast powerhouse doing remix work for many major artists including, Sting, Rozalla, RuPaul, Boy George, and Deep Forest to name a few. Here, I collaborated on tracks with EFX, Digit, DJ Chill, Tyler Stone, and Darwin Chamber, as well became and toured as a Techno band called M to the 3rd Power. The music hit charts and got rave reviews with one of the tracks Brainwaves, getting ranked the ..3 Song Of The Year, for 1992 on Dallas radio station, The Edge. In 1994 my house track titled "Tandoori" was released as a double-pack vinyl on U.K. record label U.F.G. In 1995, just before splitting up, 3rd Floor Productions moved it's main office from San Francisco to the UK. There, London's DJ Max Mistry became 3rd Floor's newest member. I collaborated with Max on several projects as well as Indian artists such as, Mahender Kapoor and Nitin Sawhney remixes. After 3rd Floor split up, I continued to work on remix projects as well as my original productions. Among them I produced two albums for Indian artist, "Kaiindia", which went on to become classics in the Fiji Indian scene. I also hooked up with Milo again as the group Energy and we did the dance track "Take Me Higher" with a club remix for it which I did with DJ Chill. Take Me Higher went on to receive heavy radio and club play nationwide. The song got rave reviews from dance magazines across the country as well as climbing onto "Billboard Magazine's" dance charts. It was also nominated "Best Dance Song" in the 1996 Bammie Awards (California Music Awards). I continued studio work doing everything from engineering, producing and remixing projects which included Everything but the Girl, Spanish Fly, Jeanie Tracy, Vicki Shephard, Angelina, Mark JellyBear, Damia, Haus-A-Holics, & Johny Z among others. In 1999, DJ Chill and I collaborated on the dance track, "Give Me All Your Love", by Rosalinda. Within a few days of its release it was getting nationwide airplay. Chill and I produced her full album, which was released in 2001. In 1999, I started producing Hip Hop again and in 2001 put together a group of individual artists to form The illusive Camp. We finished recording the album in 2004 and it was released in 2005. I just finished construction on my new studio and am working on new material.
