D-Soul

About Me

Demetrius Davis aka "D-Soul" was born on Oct. 31, 1980 to Willie Ross Davis Jr. and Betty Jo Davis. Music was instilled in him at an early age. He began singing in youth, and adult choirs at the age of 5. Gospel was the foundation for his musical expression. At the age of 9, he toured the U.S. with his father and younger siblings. They became affectionately known as The Davis Family, playing with such acts as Kirk Franklin and Hezekiah Walker. He credits his Grandmother (R.I.P.) for his influences; she introduced him to artists like Johnnie Taylor, Little Milton, Luther Vandros, and Freddie Jackson, just to name a few. D-Soul soon fell in love with soul music so much so, he would listen and sing along to it all the time. As time progressed, he began to write and record soul music. "You're On My Mind" was his first demo he recorded with his younger brother Jeremiah (R.I.P.). They became locally known in Waco,TX as Majesty. Progressing in his musical journey, he continued to record and sing live, and is featured on 7 albums to date: KJ Hines, 2 albums on Nuf SED Ent, SFL, VTA, Twice Da Game, and Tex N Rook. In 2003, he auditioned for American Idol where he made it into Austin's Top 100 Finalists. This achievement brought him local fame. American Idol opened a door for D-Soul that gave him a glimpse into stardom. His hunger for success in music fuels a work ethic and desire that he hopes will one day lead to a destiny fulfilled. So, he pursued others that wanted the same, and his persistence soon paid off. Less than a year later, he stumbled across a cover band by the name of Taboo. Some of the members of Taboo have toured with such acts as: The Gap Band, James Brown, Prince, and Slave. D-Soul traveled with Taboo for 2 years before branching off on his own with his band, Soulman. D-Soul is currently working on his solo album entitled Love & Soul with the world renowned producer, Tim Bailey. Tracks from the LP are already getting rave reviews before its 2010 release. Some of the singles to look for on the album are: Next 2 Mine, I See, and Wait Until Tonight. Some of the major recording artists D-Soul has opened up for include: The S.U.C. (The Screwed up Click), Cherish, H-Town, Slim Thug, and many more. He enjoys recording, producing, writing, and dreams of becoming the originator of "Soul-Hop", and one day fulfilling his dreams as a major artist. PUT YOUR BIO SECTION HERE!
