Slow Human Escape

About Me

Slow Human Escape sprang to life several years ago as a three-piece and gradually mutated into a six-member behemoth featuring guitars, bass guitars, drums, violin, theremin, keyboards, radios and voices. Live shows were half improvised, often shambolic affairs during which audiences alternately fled the room or gaped in wonder at the group of surly men onstage who appeared to be rather earnestly trying to destroy their equipment.
In early 2007 an EP titled ‘I’m Not Human, We Are Not Even Speaking’ was recorded. The band launched the disc to a packed house at Melbourne’s 303 and then, for all intents and purposes, broke up. A short while later, they changed their minds and got back together. Confusion reigned for the next six months as various members either; left the band, left the country, were asked to leave the band, were politely asked to join the band or forcibly hi-jacked from other bands.
Around July 2008 a stable line-up emerged featuring the more standard rockband instrumentation of guitars, bass guitars, drums and voices. The new, streamlined Slow Human Escape spent eight months in various rehearsal rooms, bungalows and lounge rooms writing around thirty new songs that combine their previous excursions into noise meltdown and instrument abuse with their collective love of well-crafted, classic pop melodies and robotic hip-hop rhythms.
April of 2009 saw the band enter Debasement Studios and record twenty-six songs in four days. While the band have no immediate plans to officially release any of these recordings they are offering a selection of them for free download on their website .
Slow Human Escape are currently re-introducing themselves to audiences throughout Melbourne and plan on visiting some interstate stages sometime in the not too distant future.
The end.
