Myspace BackgroundsOFFICIAL MYSPACE OF LHEY PANGILINAN A.K.A REBEKAH!!! To Hear Rebekah sing live for the first time is to sit at the edge of your seat; hand in heart, heart in throat----an experience so resonant and transformational as to never carelessly use the words "promising" and "moving" again in it's wake. The basics are covered, Possesing a rich, multi-textured voice that can change from coo to growl, coaxing to unnerving and lithe to guttural, she can masterfullu transcend genres such as R&B, standards, Alternative, dance, and even original filipino music, without giving the impression of randomness in her repertoire. Given the range and nuance that we can only liken to Whitney Houston, Rebekah can fit any song to her abilities somehow; the way water exacts itself on dimensions. Beyond that, however, is an artist unafraid to go where a mere vocalist won't. Often imbuing cover tunes with new arrangements, she allows herself leeway to stylize thereby create versions. There's more: Rebekah has presence. Even before a note is lifted, even before the voice floors you, you get a sense that greatness is about to unveil just by looking at her, It's not the clothes (though ofcourse, that factors in) nor her command of spiel, but it's the... aura of confidence she carries around. Rebekah knows she's awesome... And she can prove it.Newspaper Article
Pimp My ProfileHere's an Article From Showbiz Pinoy Rebekah is one performer who stole the attention of a lot of industry observers when she was launched last year. And the attention was demanded by virtue of sheer talent. When asked how she feels about it, she says, "I have to say that the turning point in my life came when I joined the singing competition ‘Star Quest' a couple of years ago. It was one big experience that made me realize what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.""Star Quest" was a music competition within ABS-CBN's former noontime show "Magandang Tanghali Bayan." Despite being only a runner-up in the competition, Rebekah believes that something much greater happened. She joyously recalls that right after the competition, someone approached her saying that the Diva, Kuh Ledesma (the chairman of the Board of Judges that time) wanted to talk to her. It turns out that Kuh had been so impressed with her performance and was even quoted in an interview to have had goosebumps watching Rebekah perform. Kuh right there and then offered Rebekah a management deal which she accepted right away. "I was glad for the chance with Kuh. I've been learning a lot from her. She gave me lessons on how to breathe properly, how to dress, how to act, introduced me to people in the industry. It's been a long process. And she's been pushing me to continue playing the guitar especially onstage," she said. She has been "training" a lot. Among her more notable gigs was Keith Martin's concert a year ago at the Meralco Theater where she gave an awe-inspiring rendition of James Ingram's "Just Once" and the duet with Keith "The Closer I Get To You." She says of it, "I feel blessed that the audience really felt my performance. I have been performing almost anywhere since I was five. I was always singing in town fiestas. My mother, who I consider my biggest influence and mentor, also brought me to almost every talent show. I also performed in churches. I was just always ready to sing my heart out everytime there was an opportunity. It always inspires me whenever I feel the audience likes me. It makes me want to make the next performance even better."She performs regularly at Bagaberde and Pier One. Last Valentine's Day, she did a solo show at the Republic of Malate. This month, she will be performing solo every Saturday at the Captain's Bar of Mandarin Oriental with her guest, Keith Martin.Like last time, Rebekah will be singing some of her favorite songs: "Inseparable," "Lately," "Just Once," "It Might Be You," "If I Ain't Got You," and her new single, a remake of Kuh's "I Think I'm In Love." She is also a guest of Nyoy and the Mannos in its show "Salute to the Beatles" every Fridays, also at Captain's Bar.Rebekah's first album under E-Real Records is nearing completion, set to be released this month. Four songs in the album are composed by Keith, and includes a remake of "Inseparable," Martin Nievera's "Ikaw Ang Lahat Sa Akin," "Just Once," and "I Think I'm In Love." Rebekah wrote one song entitled "Stop" which will be released in two versions in the album. Another collaborator is budding guitar player Eric Soriano who composed a potential hit "Ikaw at Ako" which will also be part of the new album.Newspaper Article
Pimp My ProfileARTICLE:Genuine finds Sound proof: 1: Rebekah by: JOJO PANALIGAN Philippine Daily Inquirer Since last year, the name of Rebekah has been mentioned to us several times. Whenever conversations with friends gravitate towards genuine finds for 2005,there it was. Always, we believed reluctantly as we have never chanced upon her. Recently, we join the growing number of Rebekah believers. We met the singer during her contract signing with E-Real Records and must say that here is serious competition to wannabe’s and even veterans out there. Although we only heard her sing a couple of bars from James Ingram’s "Just Once" (after prompting her to do so acapella), we were immediately hooked by the flawless phrasing, the warm vocal quality. If we were to believe her noise drummers, this girl sounds even better when she begins hitting the high notes. More inclined towards jazz music, it is said that Rebekah attacks R&B, blues and soul music with refined grit. And unless we sound like that announcer in the TV shopping channel, HERE’S MORE: Rebekah is one intelligent mama. Fluent in English, eloquent with her thoughts, she can speak miles per minute without floundering or sounding stupid or (worse) boring. Indeed, she not only has the talent but the persona to bring her to the top of the heap. She’s not showbiz (thank, God) and only buzzes people who have earned her trust, for example. Apparently, Rebekah was discovered by Kuh Ledesma when the latter was tapped as judge in ABS-CBN’s "Star Quest" where the former was finalist. Right after the contest. Kuh approached Rebekah and offered to manage her (which actually says a lot considering what a perfectionist the Pop Diva is). Anyway, Rebekah is now in the studios with Keith Martin recording singles for her debut album due out Dec. If plans do not miscarry, we’ll be hearing a song from Rebekah soon enough when one is advanced to radio end of this month. If you want to have an idea of how Rebekah sounds, check out the theme song of the top-rating teleserye, "Kay Tagal Kitang Hinintay." As for us, we’ll begin counting down to the time Rebekah’s album comes out…The Artist...
