I am here for Friends

About Me

Never apologize for showing feeling. When you do so, you apologize for truth. Benjamin Disraeli (1804 - 1881)
I'm a suburban mom. I substitute teach part-time, my husband is an accountant, we have a beautiful, amazing, little girl. I play golf, I belong to a gardening group, my daughter takes her swimming lessons at the country club, because they're the best. I wasn't always this way.
I love music - a huge variety of music, especially when it's live. I love theater, and the subculture of theater. I love heartfelt poetry, beautiful art, good wine. I think people who are snobs about these things do a disservice.
I used to party pretty hard. Some days I miss that. I like black eyeliner and music I can dance to and smoky bars. I like after-parties and staying out all night and rock music so loud you can't help moving to the bass line.
I enjoy political theory and socio-economics and philosophical debate. I love books and newspapers and coffee house conversations. I believe that sometimes you need more than love, and sometimes you need less. I believe that being a good person isn't always enough. I believe that if I look over the edge long enough, I will fall off.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

People with the souls of poets. Not poets, exactly, but people who think about things in new and interesting ways. People who know why they believe what they do.

Madeleine Albright, Nelson Mandela. People with compatible ideologies, tempered with pragmatism, working to make the world a better place.

My Blog

I was taking out the trash this afternoon, which happened to include an empty dog food bag (the big bag- 40 lbs ish) from the garage. Being the multi-tasker I am, I picked up the empty dog b...

Follow up

Things have been a little crazy lately. My doctor asked me if I feel like I need to be on something. I'm almost 100% that she was asking about anti-depressants, which I don't feel like I want to be on...

holiday spirit

I got Guitar Hero as an early Christmas present this weekend. Kinda. I mean, I decided that I would get it for myself, but I wasn't gonna brawl at Walmart at 5AM to get it, so my father in law (thanks...

and so on...

There's some special edition Nirvana DVD out today. I decided that Nirvana breaks my heart a little. The music makes me a little hurt inside, and it has very little to do with Cobain. Not that it has ...

Wakarusa 2007

There's not really a good category option for music festivals....Music doesn't cover it. Friends is certainly a part of it. News and Politics - How do you gather so many liberals together and leave ou...
