I am here for Friends

About Me

I would like to make old-timey music by singing into a paper cup.

My Interests

A few of my favorite things? Popcorn with nutritional yeast and spike, Twin Peaks, little dogs, cheese (all varieties welcome), Trivial Pursuit, Jeopardy, and speed Scrabble (in that order), reading in bed, sewing, staring into space, champagne, champagne cocktails, cocktails in general, stringing words together like Kevin Bacon Dog and Eggs Benedict Arnold, looking at pictures, making neat clothes in my head, stacking things that should really be put away, picnics, granny shoes, Bangerball, people who talk, act and drink like they're in Hemmingway stories, seersucker.

I'd like to meet:

John Fitzgerald Kennedy

Books:

The Sun Also Rises, East of Eden, For Whom the Bell Tolls, The Thin Man, Love in the Time of Cholera, All the King's Men, The Crying of Lot 49, The Great Gatsby, pretty much any dialogue heavy American fiction written in the 1930's.

Heroes:

People with pugs.

What A Bunch Of Fair-ies

Delta Delta Delta

Been trying to get out in the sun as much as possible and lately that's meant getting out of the city as well. Took off last Saturday for the Sacramento delta armed with an ice chest, a map and a wick...

Freedom Sandwich (with a side of Democracy)

Amongst other things, I love the 4th of July. Both country-style and city-style have their perks, so long as the fireworks are adequately supplied and I can get that "bombs bursting in air" adrenaline...

I've Been Through the Desert on a Horse With No Name

Got tired of the lovely vs. foggy waffling that was going on in the city and took off last weekend for a little desert adventure. Yeah, it's 90 degrees in the shade, but who cares when you'v...

Contra Costa County Fair

Say it ten times fast and you'll begin to feel the frenzy induced by a good carnival. Funnel cakes, corn dogs and baby rabbits. Ferris wheels and that warm grass smell. Did I mention this one als...

Happy Campers!

Who doesn't love camping? I haven't done much of it in my adult life, but hopefully that is soon to change now that I have my own tent, sleeping bag and wickedly awesome air mattress. Sierras? Co...

Beaster Hunny

I really do love Easter. Pastel candies, little bunnies, coloring eggs and harassing Jews. Totally kidding on the last one, but I do appreciate a good Jesus joke now and again. Somehow the tasteless s...

Effing A's

Spent all of yesterday telling anyone who'd listen that I was going to watch the A's kick some Yankee ass. The boys didn't disappoint and neither did the dollar dogs or the ultimate kid.Good thin...
