About Me

NYC based group Heekin fled the city to lay down the tracks on their new E.P., Earthquakes. The band traveled to San Francisco to record at the renowned Tiny Telephone studios, owned and operated by legendary indie musician John Vanderslice and engineer Scott Solter (The Mountain Goats). Heekin is the brainchild of soulful and talented New York based singer/songwriter Jim Heekin, (guitar/vox) and innovative multi-instrumentalist Michael Crispe (bass/keys/banjo/lap steel). The recent addition of gifted and creative drummer Hadley Tassinari has rounded out the groups instrumentation. Problematic to label, Heekin is a dynamic, if humble force on the NYC music scene. With sharply crafted songs that combine bold rhythmic structures with a laid-back rock-and-roll feel that focuses more on musicianship than virtuosity, Heekin is a refreshing and honest alternative to image or gimmick driven bands. With a distinctive sound faithful to the traditions of the singer/songwriter genre, Heekin is emerging as a soulful and individual voice in todays rock scene...
