About Me
It's been years since I had a little space all to my own on the net, and although I can't say I feel as though I have "missed" anything...I must admit I am hopeful that this venue fills the niche I've missed for self expression.Everything I am is defined by my faith in God and my love of family...and I spend most of my free time indulging in one of those two guiltless passions. I'm known for being friendly, funny, and kind but few would consider me a social character and although I am supportive of my friends, it's safe to say that I have become a bit of a silent recluse. The phone rings, I check ID and ignore it...it's silly I know...but that's just me. In my youth I would talk to a rock and enjoy the conversation, but now I go for days without engaging in friendly but meaningful banter (maybe the rock taught me something). At any rate, I mention all this here only to answer the forthcoming questions of those who befriend me...when our correspondence plateus or comes upon a temporary gap...it's not you, it is me.So, if you're interested in learning more about me and how I came to be the man that I am then I would suggest you read my testimony (check out the blog). I don't take myself too seriously, but I do celebrate the saving grace of God with each breath I'm given and therefore encourage you to check out how I came to accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I've been told on more than one occasion that the story of a man who never attended church as a child, who grew to celebrate an indulgence in the most pervasive sins, and who was an admitted skeptic can be at least an entertaining read. Now, although I may be a social recluse and fight the good fight (experience both victory and loss) on a daily basis, I'm by no means bored or without an appreciation for what it means to have fun. My daughter and I have activities in which we engage throughout the week and so you'll find me roller skating on Mondays, at the gym on Tuesdays (playing table tennis before her swim team practice and working out during the practice), encouraging her at ballet on Wednesdays (ballet does, sadly, conflict with my desire to share moment at church with her each week), and swimming with her on Thursdays. On the weekends when she is with her mother I enjoy remodeling my home (I bought an old mid-town duplex and am converting it to a single family home), working out, spending time with my parents, attending plays or concerts, traveling (going to Africa in March), teaching Sunday School at church, and riding my motorcycle. Yes...even saved men can appreciate the thrill of leaning into a sweeping turn going 80 miles an hour. Actually, some of the best prayers I have had were while I was riding in the mountains with sheer drops on one side and granite walls on the other.Well, it's time for me to log off and head out of the house, but please feel free to add me as a friend or stop by from time to time as I update my blogs.Love and God Bless,Sam
