About Me

Not a whole lot to say about myself. I live rather simply, and can find happiness in a good burger, warm weather, cold beer, and a karaoke microphone. The only sport that I really enjoy is football, and in the off-season I tend to find my playstation and the History channel more often. I am happily involved with a beautiful human being in Shawna and feel that I must be the luckiest man around to have such a kind, beautiful, and truly altruistic woman in my life.
My simplicity, however, ends when it comes to politics. I am a fiscally conservative, socially liberal former Republican who finds a fleeting alignment with the Libertarian party for now. I think this country made a huge blunder when it failed to send Ron Paul to the November election, but then again I said the same thing about Ross Perot. I suspect and hope that after a term of a Democrat president with a Democrat congress, the nation will see that our economy and our national debt are no better off since entitlement programs replaced the $12 billion a month we were spending in Iraq. It will be too soon then to forget the blunders of the Bush presidency and the Republican party will head the way of the Whigs, then we can, at long last and hopefully with the support of the mainstream media, take a third party candidate seriously in the run for president. Be it Libertarian, Constitution, or Green Party, I am hopeful and excited in the prospect of a disruption of the status quo in my lifetime. Viva la revolucion.

My Interests

OK, I already registered by other means, so I didn't make use of this handy profile, but if you aren't registered to vote or would like to change your voter registration, here is a handy profile you can use:

You Are a "Don't Tread On Me" Libertarian
You distrust the government, are fiercely independent, and don't belong in either party.
Religion and politics should never mix, in your opinion... and you feel opressed by both.
You don't want the government to cramp your self made style. Or anyone else's for that matter.
You're proud to say that you're pro-choice on absolutely everything! What's Your Political Persuasion?

You are Agnostic
You're not sure if God exists, and you don't care.
For you, there's no true way to figure out the divine.
You rather focus on what you can control - your own life.
And you tend to resent when others "sell" religion to you. What's Your Religious Philosophy?

A wonderful surprise

So, as anybody reading this blog most probably knows, Sunday was my birthday. Shawna was very sneaky in convincing me that dinner at Pepe’s on Saturday night was something to do with Travis and...

Twice baked jalapenos

I was trying to come up with something creative to take to a Superbowl party this weekend, and this recipe turned out to be a huge success. The plate of 24 of these was gone before all the people even...

My thoughts on some issues at the California Primary Election

So everyone knows that I am voting for Ron Paul as the Republican nominee for president, and if you don't know why, just read some of my previous blogs on the subject or follow the links on my page to...

Impeach Cheney Now!!!

I found a very interesting article regarding the impeachment of Cheney. Did anyone know that the house passed a resolution to begin impeachment proceedings, but the judiciary committee is just sitting...

I hate football!

Yes, that's right. I have officially lost interest in football, and I might just spend Superbowl Sunday sorting my socks or dusting nick-nacks. I mean, anything would be more interesting than the game...

Ron Paul stuff

OK, since my cafe press shop has not sold even one of the Ron Paul bumper stickers I designed, I think I am going to close it. If anyone might be interested in getting a bumper sticker, t-shirt, coffe...

Seventh day

I know, the title might have suggested something religious, but it is not. Today it has officially been one week that I have been a non-smoker. My experience with Chantix has been very rewarding. Alth...

Chantix

After four days on the Chantix pills, I thought I might comment on how it is working. The prescription calls for smoking as usual for the first week on the pill. I did that for the first three days wi...

A wake-up call for smokers

For all the obvious reasons, I have decided to quit smoking. I will pick up my Chantix prescription tomorrow, and I will most certainly report back here on how much it is helping. But there are some v...
