On Saturday, June 6, 1987, Marcelino Antonio Vicioso, better known as DJ Zelo, was born of dominican parents in New York City. Being influenced by live music at an early age - Zelo's father is an accomplished merengue/bachata musician - it is of no surprise he was bound to follow in his father's footsteps. At the age of 8, Zelo heard his first hip-hop/r&b album by the group SWV, whom had several Top 10 R&B hits, 2 of them being number1 back to back. Fast forward to age 15, Zelo then heard "Cae La Noche" by the record-breaking reggaeton duo Hector y Tito. Combining styles of tropical music, hip-hop, and pop, DJ Zelo was a force to be heard. Already familiar with being in the studio everyday, Zelo began attending audio engineering school to master the main components and programs used in major recording studios. Now, fresh just turning 21, he is an important exponent in a circle of friends involved in the music industry. DJ Zelo continues to expand making hits and devoloping new artists in a league all his own.
DJ Zelo is featured on numerous mixtapes and works consistently with Tigueraje 809, YTC (Your Top Choice), Trigga-Happy Ent., 100% Records, Platinum Mic Studios, Run-It Back Productions, HD Muzik, Los Mejores, Los Mayores, as well as his own entity Los Intocablez.
