About Me

Hello everyone, my name is Jacqui Marland. I am a soul/blues singer here in Austin, Texas. My goal in creating this site is to broaden my listening audience, and to hopefully get some feedback on the music I create.
As a new up and coming artist, I have had the chance to experiment with various different types of music in an attempt to really find what speaks to me on an artistic level. Sometimes as an artist, finding what inspires you the most can prove to be challenging at times. That being said, we are also always growing and changing all the time as people, so searching for that inspiration is a lifelong project. But when your doing what you love it is certainly well worth it.
I have found this inspiration through the expression of soul, jazz, and blues music. Although I try to bring my music to a modern level, I still hold on to my roots, that are so deeply entwined with influences such as Ruth Brown, Tina Turner, and Aretha Franklin.
Writing music to me is about a complete expression of ones self. I most of the time wear my feelings on my sleeve when it comes to my music, otherwise it doesnt feel right when the song your singing isn't coming from within.
I hope that anyone who joins this site will enjoy the music I have to offer and hopefully refer me to your friends.
With Love,
Jacqui Marland x

Cant Sleep

We as human beings are constantly pulling from this huge aura of metaphorical meanings. We do this to try and explain what goes on in our lives and make sense of the actions and emotions we experience...
