About Me

As Washington,DC quickly establishes itself as a haven for new and innovative artist, John Sport aims to claim His spot amongst the elite. Born& raised in the Nation's Capitol (NorthWest & NorthEast), Sport hopes to bring a fresh prospective to the Hip-Hop game and the Music industry as a whole. After one conversation you will understand why this MC/Producer's aspirations stretch far-beyond City limits. Born to a family full of creative minds, John Sport (born Jamal Gray) is the son of Jazz Producer/radio personality Jimmy "Blackfire" Gray. This brought him in contact with such Jazz greats as SUN-RA, Pharoh Sanders, Craig Harris, and many more. This is what started his love-affair with music. But it was his big brother Lee (Lee and the Soul-Hoppers) who introduced him to this thing called Hip-Hop at a very young age. He says "I would steal Lee's cd's, that's really how I learned to rap." Sport's exposure to such an eclectic mix of music is what drives his passion today. At the age of ten Sport began writing rhymes for himself and friends. At age 17 Sport, along with Young Shake and Rebel, started the group Full Effect, now called Left Lane. After graduating high school in 2004 he moved to Philadelphia, where he currently attends Temple University. Poised to see his dreams come into fruition, John Sport began fully pursuing his career as an artist and beatmaker. He will make his official debut on The Praxxis's 2007 LP Paycheck to Paycheck. Along side his partner/producer Trillion Cutz, Left Lane, & his big brother Lee, Sport is looking to leave a permanent mark on this world by any means. Whether it is as an MC, Producer or Record Executive. One thing he will always remain is a Student of Hip-Hop.Header Banner Made with MyBannerMaker.com! Click here to make your own!
