Growing up, I was always around music; my grandparents and parents were music directors in my home church. As early as I could remember, I started singing and continued to sing just about anywhere – weddings, funerals, fundraisers, concerts. In high school, I was involved in music and worked on a lot of music projects with my acapella group and the high school choir. I wrote my first record at age 16 and have been writing since then. My second song “God is in Control” was the theme of the State Choir’s concert in 2000. This song was also the title track of my album released in Nigeria in 2004 and it continues to gain wide airplay. I got the opportunity to write all the records on the album and co-produced it. Counting Jesus, Marvin Gaye, Lauryn Hill among many of my influences, I have come to realize the intensity of lyrics and the life and power they bring to music. Now living in Canada for the past 5 years, I continue to perform while I complete my Master’s degree in International Relations at the University of Windsor. My songs are drawn from my experiences as a Christian and as a young woman growing up in a world of relationships, successes and failures and through that I express lessons I have learned and truths accepted. With a strong passion for what I do and the drive behind the music, I pray God uses my lyrics to touch many lives and help them through the journey of life.
