Why Wait When You Can Live

About Me

Embracing into the music scene with a smooth R&B soulful sound, 24-year-old Jonathan Guy Cruz represents the meaning of old school meeting new school. With a unique soothing and stylish voice, Cruz has the ability to capture into the music scene with his soulful vibes, engaging dance moves, and sky's the limit talent.
Born to Erlinda and Arthur Cruz on August 24, 1983, in Montclair, California, Jon was the youngest of three brothers. The family then moved to Moreno Valley California, where Jon was influenced into the break dancing scene by his older brother. Throughout High School, dancing was Jon's life, by using it as his escape from school he believed that dancing would be able to make his dreams come true.
Aside from attending numerous Bboy competitions, it was suggested by a good friend of Jon to start auditioning for a dance agency. Landing a spot at KSA Agency, CTG (Clear Talent Group) Agency, and MSA (McDonald Selznick Associates), he was able to dance for different artist's such as Christina Aguilera and Jennifer Lopez.
Jon's dancing career started to breakthrough, when he entered the CBS hit talent show Star Search which boosted such artists as Usher, Justin Timberlake, and Aaliyah. Hosted by Arsenio Hall, Jon Cruz was the first contestant ever to win Starsearch three times in a row. The show rolled out numerous possibilities for Jon, performing as a guest dancer for such shows as "The Ellen Degeneres Show" and "The Vegas Show with Sheena Easton & Brian McKnight". He landed rolls in commercials such as Ipod and Spam, and was a featured dancer in movies such as "You Got Served", "Stomp The Yard", and "Meet The Spartans". As well as touring with such artists as Anastacia, Paul McCartney, & Fergie around the world, Jon believed he needed to break away from being behind the scenes and step up to the front of the curtains where he could introduce to the world his other talents.
Inspired by watching the singing contestants on Star Search, Jon knew that he had a voice that needed to be heard. Going into a studio, he recorded his first demo "God Will Find You", written by Christian artist Jon Gibson. Gibson's music career included 22 Top 5 Hits and 9 no.1 songs, and a CCM "Album of the Year". Driven by Jon Gibson's amazing talent, Jon aspired into writing songs for himself to further his music career. He wrote and recorded "How It Should Be", and amazed by the rush singing brought him, he continued to step into the studio where he added "Trying" and "Wonderful" to his collection of demos.
To hope to further his singing career, Jon started performing at clubs and open mic nights. He landed gigs in Los Angeles Clubs such as "Pig N Whistles" and "BB Kings". By taking on every show that comes his way, Jon is determined to get himself heard. Currently working to put out an album, Jon's music is featured on his myspace profile which is only a taste of what the music industry has in store for them.
