About Me

T.K. Jones, currently the Assistant Director of Marketing at South Carolina State University, has shifted to this career in Marketing and Public Relations after having a radio career for ten years. TK began her radio career immediately upon entering college at Fayetteville State University in Fayetteville, North Carolina. T.K. began her broadcasting career as an assistant news director for WFSS on the campus of Fayetteville State University. Initially interested in a career in television news, T.K. also interned with CBS News in Manhattan, NY and was a columnist for the Fayetteville Observer-Times and For by Four magazine. She was finally introduced by her college professor to a local favorite, Gilbert Baez. Baez was a veteran to the Fayetteville market. He acted as a television journalist and a radio news reporter. T.K. was Baez’s intern for two months before he introduced her to WZFX Foxy 99.1 in Fayetteville as his fill-in news girl. This part-time job eventually turned into a full-time opportunity. T.K. became the morning show-co host and copywriter for the 100,000 watt station, all while still attending college. After finishing as valedictorian at the university, T.K. wanted more. Heading for a career in education, she began working on an M.A. degree at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Working as a graduate teaching assistant, she still missed radio, and after only two weeks in the area, was introduced to WJMH 102Jamz and 97.1QMG by a former co-worker and began working at both stations as a commercial production assistant and a weekend on-air announcer. After finishing graduate school, T.K. went back to radio full-time, as a production director for WJMH. During her two years as production director at the station, T.K. discovered that voice-over work and commercial production had become a career for several announcers, and began the company TKO Productions, which now specializes in voice-over work, production, and copywriting services to several agencies and radio stations. T.K. has now been heard in Florida, Atlanta, Lafayette, California, Ohio, Wisconsin, Tennessee and several other markets. Check out the website at www.tko-productions.com, and check out T.K. on Magic 107.3 during the weekends. Tk can now be heard imaging on WYBC in Connecticut, and can be found working diligently for the Bulldogs of South Carolina State University.
