A History of Streetwise Recordings..
Streetwise Recordings was set up in the summer of 2002 by Vigi, Mr. Marcus B and Simon Holmes, and has since gone onto establish itself as one of the most exciting independent dance labels in the UK.The Streetwise sound was born from a fusion of all aspects of the UK underground dance scene during the 1990s including House, Techno and Drum and Bass but it was the breakbeat sound being pushed at clubs such as the Big Beat Boutique, Wall of Sound and Friction in the late 90s that was the binding agent that was to eventually bring it all together.Once their sound was nailed Streetwise proceeded to literally smash their way onto the breaks scene winning the award for best new label at Breakspoll 2003, Rennie Pilgrems rework of Zeros Emit/Collect also won best remix at the same awards hosted by BBC Radio Ones Annie Nightingale, Emit/Collect crossed over in all directions, with its infectious riff and slamming beats causing havoc all over the world and when Judge Jules dropped it to 300,000 people at the Berlin Love Parade every single hand went in the air at the same time, the sign of a true crowd pleaser.All the Streetwise releases have been greeted with rave reviews in the magazines, regular airplay all around the world and have clinched the no.1 spot in the various breaks charts on numerous occasions.Artists to grace the Streetwise vinyl include Vigi, Zero, Decibelle, Nectarios, Mr.B, Precision Cuts, Kraymon, Circuit Breaker, Phil Barry, Paranoid Jack and Robb g with additional remixes coming from Rennie Pilgrem, Meat Katie, General Midi, E.K., Nick Thayer, Atomic Hooligan, Coburn and Dumb Blonde (Anne Savage).Streetwise tunes see serious action from many of the biggest DJ's in the world including: Fat Boy Slim, Fergie, Plump DJs, Krafty Kuts, The Freestylers, Bushwacka, Anne Savage, Hybrid, Lisa Lashes, Adam Freeland, Tayo, Judge Jules, Paul Oakenfold and even Tiesto!
