Hello and welcome to the space that is my..ne. Its a truly extravagant space full of much wonder. It is the stuff that many peoples dreams are made of...many of whom I feel deeply sorry for if that is indeed the case. GO TEAM!
My name is Mark. I live in a house. On the Eastern Shore. Of Hobart. Which is situated in Tasmania. Numerous kilometres south of Australia. Full stop. I've lived here all my life, and up until now I have enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, but I'm beginning to realise that it may be just a little too relaxed. So relaxed that I rarely bother to go out these days other than to go to work. Though this is mostly due to the really crappy work hours I have attained.
By day I am a lowly retail slave. For some reason I actually enjoy it. Seeing a customer leave with a smile on their face makes my day. Making people happy is what makes me happy. Unfortunately with a slight change of position, I don't deal with customers much anymore. I now spend most of my working day out the back, alone. So where work was once my social life (how sad is that?), it now mirrors my home life so I find myself enjoying it less and less as time goes on.
By night I am a comic artist. I don't like the term 'cartoonist' for some reason. I specialise in cute, stylised, violent and silly comics (I like to think I am creative) and comic art. I've enjoyed drawing all my life. Well most of it. As a kid, seeing my mum draw inspired me to start drawing. I was never gifted, so its taken a lot of hard work to get where I am today. I've recently had a comic printed in the Melbourne based comic anthology 'Oztaku' (issue 1.3 for those who want to check it out), and hopefully they will continue to print them as I draw them. I also hope this will be a big step in the direction I'd like to take.
I need to update this thing to include the wonderful 6 months I have spent with the wonderfull Jenna. I love you honey :)
